Typically the heartbeat of any town is found on it's Main Street. Colorado Springs is different in the fact that it's main street seemed to evolve as the city expanded. Tejon, Bijou, Nevada all located in the heart of what's recognized as 'Downtown' were at times replaced with Academy, Austin Bluffs Parkway, Union and Powers. As the city expanded so did it's definition of Main Street. Buildings and artifacts however point to the central downtown area as the true heart of Colorado Springs and it's recent revival with local eateries, breweries and retail have brought a resurgence into the area.
